The individuals who work on and contribute to this website do so in reliance on the Lord God of Israel, the one true God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We serve in the prayerful hope of informing, equipping and encouraging fellow Christians in their walk with the Lord Jesus:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. (John 14:6)

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2: 6-11)

There is salvation in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. (Colossians 1: 15-20)

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5)

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)

Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. (Ephesians 2:20-22)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Issachar People Statement of Faith

We believe that:

1. The Bible alone is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. All Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for instruction, for conviction of sin, for correction of error and restoration to obedience, for training in righteousness. Redemptive truth is set forth in the Old and New Testaments.

(2 Timothy 3:15–17; Matthew 5:18; 2 Peter 1:20–21.)

2. There is one true and living God, eternally co-existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, infinite, unchanging in love, mercy, power, wisdom and righteousness.

(Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:13.)

3. God is sovereign in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

(Isaiah 40:22-31; Psalm 90:2-6; Hebrews 1:3; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 1:17)

4. The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s incarnate Son, is fully God. He was born of a virgin. He willingly gave His life. He was crucified, died and on the third day was raised bodily from the dead. He is the perfect and all-sufficient propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of human beings. Through His atonement those who believe on Him can know freedom from the penalty and effects of sin.

(Matthew 1:20–25; John 1:14; 1; Romans 3:25-26; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

5. The Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth. His indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. He seals believers until the day of redemption, empowers for service and grants gifts of grace for the building up of the Body of Christ. He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgment.

(Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6: 12:4-13;Titus 3:5; John 3:3-5, John 16:8-11).

6. Right standing with God and eternal life comes by His grace as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. It is freely given and not achieved by human works. This is the good news of the Gospel that if we admit that we are a sinner and repent; and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ died for our sins and was buried and that God raised Him from the dead on the third day; and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord we will be saved. With the daily guidance of the Holy Spirit we continuously work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

Without the salvation of Jesus Christ we are lost. Through Adam’s sin men and women became alienated from God. All people everywhere have rebelled against God, are separated from Him, and continually fall short of the glory of God. The cost of sin is death and judgment and eternal punishment. However, God by his grace offers salvation to all people who place their complete trust and faith in the Person and work of Jesus the Messiah.

(John 3:15–18; John 6:29; John 14:6; Ephesians 1:7; Romans 3:23; Romans 10:9–10; Philippians 2:12)

7. Jesus Christ, the head of the ekklesia (Church), has removed the barrier between Jew and Gentile, and is the peace and unity of the Body of Christ on earth, which exists for fellowship, edification, and for making disciples of people from all nations.

 (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 2:14; 4:1-3; 1 Corinthians 12:13.)

8. Men and women were created in the image of God. The foundation of the family, as expressed in the context of marriage, is the basic structure of human society. Human life is sacred from before conception to its natural end. We must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellow men and women.

(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13; Jeremiah 1:5;Mark 10:6-9; 1 Corinthians 6:9).

9. God’s promises to his people Israel have never been revoked and their restoration to the land of Israel is the fulfilment of prophetic scripture. We affirm the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. God has chosen Israel to bring forth our Messiah Jesus Christ. The Church has not replaced Israel. Gentile believers, as “a wild olive branch”, have been grafted into God’s “Olive tree” to become “one new humanity”.

(Jeremiah 31:10; 35-36; Ezekiel 36:8-12; John 4:22; Ephesians 2:11-22; Romans 11:11-17, 29).

10. Jesus Christ is returning to rule and reign on earth for 1000 years as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. At the appointed time, He will judge the living and the dead. The dead will rise, some to everlasting life and others to “everlasting shame and contempt”. There will be a new heaven and a new earth.

(Daniel 12:2; Acts 24:15; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:1-6)
